News Bulletin from Your Local Remax Real Estate Agency:

In this day and age when people are camped out in parks upset with “Wall Street” and the big banks, I would like to take a moment to praise a big bank!  Specifically, I would like to give a “shout out” to JP Morgan Chase!


I am a Realtor with Remax Real Estate Agency in the Metro Atlanta area and I see loads of people who have been paying on their mortgages and want to stay in their homes, AND they would love to refinance to lower their payments.  However, they are unable to refinance because the closing costs are too high AND they have to get an appraisal.  The government and the banks have been trying to help those people who are not able to make payments, but the folks who pay on time get left behind.


My mother was one of those people.  She has excellent credit and ALWAYS pays on time.  She bought a townhome in Florida 6 years ago… do the math and you will see she bought near the top of the market.  Her credit score is over 800.  Anyway, she could not refinance because there must be at least 20% equity in a condo or townhome and she didn’t have that because the prices had dropped 40% since she purchased.


Chase contacted her and told her they would refinance her with no closing costs and no appraisal.  This was their “steam lined” loan process.  Since she had paid on time, they wanted to do something for her.  Imagine that?  A big bank with a heart and,  more importantly, an understanding of customer service.  My mother was thrilled.   She answered a few questions over the phone and was told she was approved.  Two and a half weeks later, Chase sent a closing attorney to her house and she signed the papers at the dining room table.  No muss!  No fuss!


It is my belief that all mortgage companies and big banks should take their lead from Chase.  I would love it if all of the mortgage provider would offer this program to their loyal paying customers.  My mother is saving a lot of money per month and all she had to do was what she has always done – pay on time.  I have nothing but good things to say about these mortgage companies who have finally chosen to recognize and reward their good paying customers!  We at the local Real Estate Agency here in Atlanta rarely have such great news to pass on to our clients.


My point is that there is good news out there!  Hang in there people because the tide is turning in our direction.
